I'm coaching replacement principals and understudies for the national tour of Disney's hit musical Mary Poppins, currently at the Ahmanson Theater in downtown Los Angeles. I'm cleaning up the cast's Cockney and Standard English accents.
Two projects I coached are airing on the same night, Sunday, January 17: The Wronged Man starring acclaimed British actress Julia Ormond, using a Louisiana accent, on Lifetime Movie Network at 8 PM EDT/ 5 PM PDT; and the Season Premiere of Fox's 24 at 9 PM, starring Indian actor Anil Kapoor (Slumdog Millionaire) using a "Kamistani" accent. Two episodes of 24 will screen Sunday night, with two more episodes showing Monday night at 8; an encore presentation of The Wronged Man will also air Monday night.
The Episode of Nickelodeon's Dora The Explorer that I coached, Dora Saves Three King's Day, aired this week. I taught child actors Egyptian and Mexican accents from my office in California while they recorded the episode in New York. Was credited as "Cultural/Educational Consultant"!
